OUR PROFESSIONALS

Dr. Jesper Mehlsen, MD

I graduated as a medical doctor in 1979 and finished my specialist training in 1990. I have published more than 140 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals mainly on the autonomic nervous system and more recently on complex diseases possibly resulting form HPV-vaccination. For more than 35 years, I have worked clinically and in research with dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Such dysfunction may lead to symptoms from a number of different organs often dominated by diminished control of blood pressure and heart rate. Defects in those control systems may lead to orthostatic intolerance in the upright position resulting in dizziness, palpitations, blurred vision, cognitive dysfunction and self limited fainting (syncope). Over the past 5 years, I have worked clinically and in research with patients who suspect side effects due to HPV vaccintion to be the cause of a number of symptoms, common to those seen in chronic fatigue syndrome / ME. Due to the complex nature of these conditions, it is important me that there is sufficient time to listen, examine, explain and find treatment options based on an overall assessment and in close collaboration with the patient.

Graduated as bachelor in nursing in 2013 from University College Lillebaelt. My first experience as a nurse was in an intensive care unit with new born, premature children - in addition, I have worked at a pediatric department and have been employed by Jesper Mehlsen since 2015. Over the past 3 years, I have built a solid experience in the patient group with possible HPV side effects a have among other tasks had follow-up consultations, control of medication, ECG recordings, 24-hoour ambulatory blood pressure measurements, blood sampling and handling, etc. I have a strong focus on both the patient and their relatives, since diseases such as these usually affects the whole family. It is of great importance to me that there is sufficient time, in a quiet, calm and safe setting so that we can get the best overview of the situation and provide help in the best possible way.
